MEMBER INFORMATION
Seasons: 12-15 week seasons, late-August/September through November (Fall), and January through early April (Spring).Rehearsals: Generally held on consecutive Thursdays, from 7:15-9:30 p.m. in North Berkeley, with 1-2 additional rehearsals on non-Thursdays. Required rehearsals: Attendance is mandatory at the first and last two rehearsals. If you can't make a certain rehearsal, call your section leader ahead of time. No more than 2 missed rehearsals during the season, except due to illness or emergency. Sectional rehearsals: Held once during the season for each voice section, not on a Thursday; required attendance. Rehearsal recordings: We encourage all singers to practice between rehearsals with a recording of each practice. Either tape the rehearsal yourself, or go on-line to access the digital recording of the rehearsal, especially if you need to miss a session. Consistent listening to the recordings will enable you to learn the music much faster and will improve our collective singing and blending. Bring to rehearsal: Your music in a black music binder, water bottle, pencil w/eraser, and highlighter. Concert Attire: Black shirt or blouse, and black pants or skirts are our "uniform" for Fall, and we wear solid color dress shirt or blouse, and black pants or skirts for Spring. Bright, colorful neckwear is strongly encouraged. No jeans or t-shirts! Community Performances: In addition to our public concerts, BBS provides benefits and community performances to people confined in various institutions. Participation in these performances is strongly encouraged, especially for chorus newcomers. |
